Human Technopole (HT) is an interdisciplinary life science research institute, created and supported by the Italian Government, with the aim of developing innovative strategies to improve human health. HT is composed of five Centers: Neurogenomics, Computational Biology, Structural Biology, Genomics, and Health Data Science. The Centers work together to enable interdisciplinary research and to create an open, collaborative environment that will help promote life science research both nationally and internationally.

Human Technopole is looking for a Scientific Project Manager for the Genomics Research Centre - Population & Medical Genomics, directly reporting to the Head, Prof. Nicole Soranzo,

The successful candidate will oversee and coordinate the operational aspects of scientific projects and programs within the Center. This role involves managing flagship projects, supporting Principal Investigators (PIs) and researchers, ensuring compliance with agreements and regulatory standards, and fostering collaborations across institutions and stakeholders.

The Scientific Project Manager acts as a central point for aligning research operations, grant management, and project coordination, contributing to the smooth execution of the Center’s scientific initiatives

Main tasks and responsibilities:

  • Manage agreements such as Material Transfer Agreements (MTA), Data Transfer Agreements (DTA), and Research Collaboration Agreements (RCA);

  • Define agreement conditions with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring compliance with legal, regulatory, and ethical standards;

  • Support PIs and researchers in the management of pre-award and post-award grant activities, including grant writing coordination, preparation of scientific and financial reports, risk mitigation and engagement with funding agencies and project officers;

  • Monitor progress and ensure adherence to project timelines, objectives and budget;

  • Coordinate activities among research institutions, patient cohorts, consortia stakeholders, and legal and strategy departments;

  • Provide operational support to PIs and researchers, working closely with colleagues within HT (finance, legal, human resources, strategy and scientific affairs, grants, technology transfer, communications);

  • Ensure proper documentation and dissemination of project-related information;

  • Represent the Center at scientific events, fostering networking opportunities and promoting collaboration.

Job requirements

Mandatory requirements

  • A Master’s degree in a relevant scientific field (e.g., biology, biotechnology, bioinformatics) or comparable experience;

  • Demonstrated professional experience of at least 5 years in project management (preferable Horizon 2020/Horizon Europe, NIH, Wellcome Trust projects) within a research or academic environment;

  • Experience in managing grants and complex, multi-stakeholder research projects with a proactive attitude and strong attention to detail;

  • Knowledge of budget planning, grant management, and reporting processes;

  • Familiarity with legal, regulatory, and ethical standards in scientific research agreement;

  • Fluency in English.

Preferred requirements

  • PhD in relevant scientific field;

  • Good knowledge of Italian;

  • Expertise in preparing applications for ethical clearance  

Organizational and social skills

  • Strong organizational and operational planning abilities;

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills: ability to work both independently and as part of a team, effective stakeholder engagement skills and team coordination;

  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines effectively.

Contract offered: CCNL Chimico Farmaceutico, Permanent - Employee Level

Salary range: up to € 49k, based on the seniority of the candidate.
