Job Description
Postdoc in RNA Therapeutics Delivery

Build the science that shapes the future of human health.
Application closing date: 09.06.2026

Join a place where ambitious science thrives
Human Technopole (Milan) is a rapidly expanding life science institute where international researchers and cutting-edge technologies converge to accelerate biomedical discovery. Our mission is to transform bold scientific ideas into advances that improve human health.

Within this mission, the Zerial Group works on endocytosis and its molecular mechanisms, implications in cell and tissue organisation and development of novel strategies for macromolecular therapeutics delivery. The Group uses a unique interdisciplinary approach combining biochemical and biophysical methods with advanced light microscopy, cell biology and computer-aided three-dimensional tissue reconstruction to monitor the key steps from targeting to specific cells and tissues, to endocytosis and endosomal escape. Specific targeting and endosomal escape remain crucial hurdles for the successful implementation of RNA therapeutics. The know-how in endocytosis positions the Zerial Group at the leading edge of understanding these limitations and identifying novel strategies to overcome them.

We are seeking an ambitious postdoctoral candidate with a strong background in biochemistry or organic chemistry applied to the delivery of macromolecular therapeutics (e.g. RNA). The project will be carried out in collaboration with biotech and pharmaceutical industries.

Your mission
This project aims to translate newly identified targeting strategies into RNA delivery applications. It focuses on the targeted delivery of RNA therapeutics through the development of antibody-targeted oligonucleotide therapeutics and RNA-loaded nanoparticles. Their uptake and intracellular trafficking will be studied in vitro using cell lines and primary cells, and in vivo using mouse models, quantitative light microscopy and high-throughput screening approaches.

Grow your skills
You will enhance your scientific and professional skills by:

  • interacting with members of an interdisciplinary team of cell biologists, biochemists, computer scientists and clinicians,
  • working in a competitive international environment.

Human Technopole supports career development through training, mentoring and dedicated learning opportunities.

What you'll bring

Mandatory requirements:

On the closing date for online applications, the candidate must fulfil all the following conditions:

  • A PhD in life sciences.
  • Documented prior experience in antibody or oligonucleotide modification or organic synthesis of biomolecules, ideally in antibody conjugation and delivery approaches.
  • Proficiency in biochemistry and molecular biology methods and protein purification, quantification and detection techniques.
  • At least one first-author publication in a scholarly journal in a field relevant to this application.
  • Fluency in English.

Preferred requirements:

  • A background in membrane biology, endocytosis and cell trafficking would be advantageous.
  • Previous experience in quantitative light microscopy.

At HT, your discoveries contribute to a global effort to improve human health.
