Job Description
Postdoc Carninci Lab

Postdoc – Carninci Group | Human Technopole, Milan

Build the science that shapes the future of human health.
Application closing date: April 16, 2026

Join a place where ambitious science thrives

Human Technopole (Milan) is a rapidly expanding life science institute where international researchers and cutting-edge technologies converge to accelerate biomedical discovery. Our mission is to transform bold scientific ideas into advances that improve human health.

Within this mission, the Carninci Group is focused on developing and applying new technologies to understand gene regulation, with particular focus on the role of non-coding genome and long non-coding RNAs. An overview of the laboratory mission is available at:

We are seeking an ambitous Postdoc to drive discovery-driven research aimed at identifying and characterizing functional RNAs and regulatory elements. The role combines large-scale genomics data with computational and/or experimental approaches to uncover novel RNA molecules and elucidate their mechanisms of action.

The successful candidate will work with datasets generated within the group and across Human Technopole, integrating bioinformatics, functional genomics and molecular biology to move from genome-scale data to mechanistic insight. Depending on expertise, the project may involve advanced computational analysis, development of analytical or AI-based methods, and/or experimental validation through molecular and cellular assays.

Through these activities, the Postdoctoral Researcher will contribute to advancing the understanding of genome regulation and the functional landscape of the human genome, with potential implications for human health.

Your mission:

  • Drive research projects on functional RNAs and genome regulation using large-scale genomics and multi-omics datasets
  • Apply computational and/or experimental approaches to identify and characterize lncRNAs and regulatory elements
  • Design and execute data analyses and, where relevant, validation experiments (molecular and cellular assays)
  • Develop and implement analytical strategies, including bioinformatics and AI-based methods
  • Integrate multi-omics data to uncover regulatory mechanisms
  • Contribute to scientific publications, presentations, and dissemination of results
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners in interdisciplinary projects

What you will gain

  • Expertise in functional genomics and RNA biology
  • Experience with large-scale genomics and multi-omics integration
  • Exposure to interdisciplinary research combining computational and experimental approaches
  • Opportunities to contribute to high-impact research in an international environment

What you'll bring

Essential

Candidates must show a proven track record in:

  • PhD in a relevant field (e.g. genomics, molecular biology, computational biology or related disciplines)
  • Strong research experience in functional genomics and/or RNA biology
  • Proven expertise in either: bioinformatics/computational biology (genomics data analysis), or experimental molecular and cellular biology applied to gene regulation/RNA studies
  • Experience with genomics techniques (e.g. sequencing, DNA/RNA manipulation, library preparation)
  • Ability to independently drive research projects and interpret complex datasets
  • Fluency in English

Preferred

  • Experience in bridging computational and experimental approaches
  • Knowledge of gene regulation mechanisms (e.g. enhancers, promoters, genome organization)
  • Familiarity with high-throughput genomics technologies and multi-omics datasets
  • Experience with perturbation methods (e.g. CRISPR, RNAi, antisense technologies)
  • Exposure to machine learning/AI or reproducible computational workflows (HPC, version control, workflow managers)

At HT, your discoveries contribute to a global effort to improve human health.
