Job Description
Postdoc Casañal Group

Build the science that shapes the future of human health.
Application closing date: June 21st, 2026

Join a place where ambitious science thrives
Human Technopole (Milan) is a rapidly expanding life science institute where international researchers and cutting-edge technologies converge to accelerate biomedical discovery. Our mission is to transform bold scientific ideas into advances that improve human health.

Within this mission, the Casañal Group combines cryo-electron microscopy, biochemistry, biophysics, and structural proteomics to dissect the molecular machineries of RNA modification, a rapidly expanding and biomedically important layer of gene regulation whose dysregulation drives cancer, neurodevelopmental disorders, and viral infection. We focus on the human m6A and m5C writer complexes, their crosstalk with other gene expression machineries, and the translation of our atomic-resolution insights into therapeutic opportunities.

We are seeking an ambitious, highly motivated Postdoc with a strong interest in the structural and functional characterisation of m6A and m5C writers and erasers, and their multi-subunit assemblies on RNA and chromatin, using integrative approaches. Previous expertise in structural biology, RNA biology, and/or biochemistry of multi-protein complexes is essential. We encourage international candidates to apply and will support applications to external Postdoctoral fellowship schemes (EMBO, Marie Curie, HFSP, etc.).

Your mission

  • Conduct research, develop innovative methods and tools, and ensure accurate documentation of activities.
  • Generate high-quality data, maintain proper records, and contribute to writing scientific manuscripts.
  • Publish results and present findings at conferences, seminars, and workshops.
  • Train and support students and junior staff, while collaborating with internal and external researchers.
  • Plan and manage experiments and data analysis in line with the research group’s objectives.

Grow your skills
Postdoctoral researchers engage in cutting-edge research in the life sciences, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams and utilizing advanced technologies to contribute to impactful scientific publications.
