About the role:
The successful candidate will be part of an interdisciplinary team that will investigate the host-virus interplay in the human nervous system. The Research Assistant will report directly to Oliver Harschnitz, Research Group Leader of the Harschnitz Group while working in close collaboration with members of the Vannini Group and the broader NPDs Flagship Research Programme. We are looking for highly motivated and creative stem cell biologists and virologists who have solid experience in human stem cell culture, CRISPR/Cas9 gene-editing, virology, and molecular biology.
Your mission
- Performing experiments in the fields of stem cell biology and virology
- Support in maintaining hPSC lines and hPSC-derived cell cultures
- Support in generating reliable data for publication in the projects to which they are assigned and record all data and results in specified forms (paper and electronic)
- Support other laboratory members’ activities,
- Participating in key aspects of general lab management and organization (e.g., ordering/purchasing, managing inventories and stocks of samples, reagents, equipment, and materials)
What you’ll bring
Essentials
- Master’s degree in a relevant subject area (stem cell biology, virology, neuroscience, or similar)
- Experience in hPSC culture and differentiation
- Knowledge of genome editing
- Knowledge of molecular biology, genomics, neuroscience, and virology
- Fluency in English - HT is an international research institute
Preferred
- Working experience as Laboratory Technician
- Experience in immunocytochemistry and microscopy
Organizational and social skills
- Ability and interest to learn or develop new methodologies
- Excellent communication skills
- Problem solving skills
- Ability to work in an inclusive environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity
