Human Technopole (HT) is an interdisciplinary life science research institute, created and supported by the Italian Government, with the aim of developing innovative strategies to improve human health. HT is composed of five Centers: Neurogenomics, Computational Biology, Structural Biology, Genomics, and Health Data Science. The Centers work together to enable interdisciplinary research and to create an open, collaborative environment that will help promote life science research both nationally and internationally.
About the Unit
The National Facilities (NF) at Human Technopole provide state-of-the-art technologies, scientific services and advanced infrastructure to the Italian and international research community. The User Access Office coordinates access procedures, open calls, evaluation processes and user support to ensure an efficient and impactful use of HT’s National Facilities.
The National Facilities Access Specialist, reporting to the National Facilities Access Manager, plays a pivotal role in enabling the operations of the User Access Office, supporting the development and implementation of access procedures to HT’s National Facilities. The role is focused on supporting the preparation of open calls for access, providing support to Users and Evaluation Committees, and contributing to the visibility and effectiveness of the National Facility offer
Key tasks and responsibilities
- Support the design, launch and management of open calls for access, including guidelines and documentation.
- Provide helpdesk assistance to applicants and ensure smooth and compliant application workflows.
- Coordinate the evaluation process, including interaction with reviewers and support to the SIEC.
- Act as primary contact for Users, coordinating project execution with facility staff and managing logistics.
- Monitor project budgets and maintain comprehensive access and project documentation.
- Contribute to tools and processes for tracking access usage and assessing scientific impact.
- Support outreach, training and community engagement initiatives related to the National Facilities.
Essential requirements
- University degree in life sciences or related fields
- Experience in academic or life science institutions.
- Familiarity with peer-review processes and scientific project management.
- Previous involvement in research administration or access procedures.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Knowledge of Italian.
Preferred requirements
- PhD in a relevant life science field
- Experience supporting scientific infrastructures or research access programmes.
- Experience with user-facing roles or scientific engagement.
- Understanding of tracking or monitoring systems.
Organisational and social skills
- Proactive, fast learner.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Excellent organisational abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple projects independently.
- Problem-solving mindset.
