Human Technopole (HT) is an interdisciplinary life science research institute, created and supported by the Italian Government, with the aim of developing innovative strategies to improve human health through a multidisciplinary and integrated approach, combining genomics, computational biology, structural biology, neuroscience and health data science.HT fosters a collaborative, open environment that promotes life sciences research at both national and international levels. About Scientifc Operations

The Scientific Operations area sits at the interface between Research and Administration and drives the success of Human Technopole in areas as technology excellence, innovation, training and collaborations.
Reporting to the Senior Scientific Infrastructure Advisor, the Lab Operations Manager supports the setup, organisation and optimisation of research laboratories and scientific infrastructure within the National Facilities.
The role acts as a bridge between scientists, facility teams and administrative functions, ensuring efficient daily operations, coordinated laboratory workflows, and well-structured scientific spaces.


Key tasks and responsibilities:
• Coordinate daily laboratory operations, ensuring efficient workflows, well-organised spaces, and full adherence to safety procedures.
• Support Facility and Lab Managers during the startup phase of new laboratories and scientific services.
• Analyse operational workflows and equipment usage to optimise resource allocation and improve overall efficiency.
• Manage equipment purchase requests, gather technical requirements, and support end-to-end procurement activities in collaboration with Procurement and Finance.
• Contribute to equipment lifecycle management, including service contracts, documentation, and asset tracking in alignment with institutional standards.
• Support the design, layout, and fit-out of new or existing laboratories using operational data to enhance efficiency, sustainability, and flexibility.
• Act as a key liaison between scientific teams, facility staff, and administrative functions to ensure seamless coordination of lab-related activities.
• Maintain effective relationships with suppliers, providing feedback on performance and supporting vendor evaluations when required.

Essential requirements
• Bachelor of Science
• Min 5-year experience in laboratory technician roles, or equivalent research support positions (academia and/or industry).
• Advanced knowledge of Excel for data analysis and reporting/visualization.
• Proficiency in preparing technical documents, reports, and statistics.
• Fluency in English (written and spoken) – HT is an international institute

Preferred requirements
• Background in life sciences or biomedical fields (biology, biotechnology, bioengineering, etc.)
• Knowledge of project/data management tools for cross-functional collaboration
• Experience in lab design/ research labs or facilities setup
• Knowledge/experience in imaging, genomics, or proteomics technologies

• Capacity to manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment.
• Independence and initiative in task management.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead, influence, and coordinate across teams.
