About the Group

The Zuccolo group studies maternal and child health through epidemiology, statistics, and data science, focusing on understanding health trends, risk factors, and the intergenerational effects of family and parent-offspring relationships on health and wellbeing.

 

Internship Project Description

We are seeking a motivated intern to join our team and contribute to advancing research on women’s health. Building on ongoing projects, you will assist in performing advanced statistical modelling to explore emerging scientific questions including: safety of drug use in pregnancy; drivers and consequences of discontinuation around pregnancy; mediation and composite-phenotype models for the determination of climate extreme impacts or multiple joint exposures.

 

Grow your skills
You will enhance your scientific and professional skills by:

  • Reviewing literature and extracting data from publicly available sources
  • Handling large-scale data from administrative data sources
  • Computing estimates of disease burden
  • Defining analytical protocols and pipelines
  • Completing advanced statistical modelling
  • Producing data visualisations and project reports.

What you'll bring

Essential

  • MSc in epidemiology or biostatistics or related subject.
  • Excellent knowledge of programming language (R or Python).
  • Proven experience of analysing large scale data for population health science projects.
  • Experience of advanced mathematical/statistical modelling in medicine and/or public health.

 

Organizational and social skills

  • Excellent communication and team working skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment and to work independently.
  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity.

This is a 6 months extra-curricular internship. The internship will start in November 2026.

Reimbursement: 800€ gross per month

The position is based in Milan, Italy, within our vibrant international campus.
