Join a place where ambitious science thrives
Human Technopole (Milan) is a rapidly expanding life science institute where international researchers and cutting-edge technologies converge to accelerate biomedical discovery. Our mission is to transform bold scientific ideas into advances that improve human health.
Within this mission, the Bioimage Analysis Infrastructure Unit of the National Facility for Data Handling and Analysis at Human Technopole (HT) is offering cutting-edge scientific image analysis services to researchers from HT and from all public institutions in Italy. Our service portfolio includes technical consultation with users, building and deploying suitable analysis pipelines, quality control, publishing support, visualization and rendering services, as well as maintenance of existing tools and development of new ones. Our analyses rely almost entirely on open-source projects, including our own, which we maintain and share with the community.
We are recruiting a Bioimage Analyst to add to our creative and interdisciplinary team of bioimage analysts and research software engineers. Our team works together at the forefront of bioimage analysis to provide world-class analysis support to our users both within and outside of the institute.
Your mission
As Bioimage Analyst you will be responsible for assisting our users in all aspects of the analysis of light microscopy images and report directly to the manager of the bioimage analysis unit. You will be responsible for meeting with users to understand their scientific and analysis goals, development and deployment of analysis strategies, training, and coordination with members of the National Facility for Light Imaging to ensure image acquisition is suitable for the analysis goals. We are particularly interested in candidates with a strong expertise in the analysis of high-content imaging screens, or spatial transcriptomics data (ie Visium, MERFISH).
Grow your skills
You will enhance your scientific and professional skills by:
- Working with our interdisciplinary team of bioimage analysts and research software engineers, as well as collaborating closely with research groups in the institute that work to develop new image analysis methods.
- Contributing to the development of open-source tools in collaboration with the research software engineering team.
- Visiting other members of the community of Bioimage Analysts around the world, bringing you in touch with the latest algorithms and software tools.
- Developing and deploying reproducible analysis pipelines to answer the scientific questions of facility users.
- Collaborating closely with users to understand user needs, challenges, and scientific aims.
- Training users in the use of bioimage analysis tools, both externally and internally developed, both one-on-one and in classroom settings.
- Working closely with research groups and research software engineers in the facility to translate state-of-the-art analysis methods into user-friendly software.
- Supporting the integration of new algorithms and tools into the service package portfolio.
- Staying updated on the latest algorithms, software tools, and microscopy technologies.
- Building effective links and collaborations within HT.
- Engaging with the global community of bioimage analysts and research software engineers to share knowledge and best practices.
- Actively participating in the overall development of HT core facilities.
- Performing other related duties as assigned in order to meet the goals of the facilities.
Human Technopole supports career development through training, mentoring and dedicated learning opportunities.
